1925-2008

A native Texan, Robert Rauschenberg served in the U.S. Navy before studying art at the Kansas City Art Institute, Academie Julian in Paris, and Black Mountain College in North Carolina. In 1949 he moved to New York City and challenged the status quo with his Combines. Rauschenberg continued to break the mold throughout his career.

Robert Rauschenberg Against the Grid: Drawings, 1983

From September 19 November 9, 2019, Pace Gallery in Seoul presents a selection of works on paper created in 1983 by Robert Rauschenberg. This group of thirteen drawings builds on Rauschenbergs signature style of juxtaposing real-world images, sourced from magazines and newspapers, alongside found fabrics. Part of a larger group of twenty-two drawings, each work features a uniform grid, lightly incised on the paper in graphite. Discovered in Rauschenbergs studio in Captiva, Florida in 2007, these drawings are being exhibited for the first time.
Jackie Vitale, who will commence as Chef in Residence in June, looks forward to continuing to explore the intersection of food, art, ritual, and community during her time at the Rauschenberg Residency.

Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Names Jackie Vitale 2019-2020 Chef In Residence

Jackie Vitale is ever excited by the magic of food: as a source of joy, a community builder, a teaching tool, and a happy home for our microbial friends. She comes to Captiva from her hometown of Stuart, Florida, where she has spent the last five years growing an urban farm, restaurant, and community space, Ground Floor Farm. As the Chef in Residence, Jackie will oversee the Foundations ongoing commitment to providing fresh, regionally sourced food for the resident artists. She also will work to build relationships in the southwest Florida community. Jackie, co-founder of the Florida Ferment...
